In 2017, our families were paying too much for internet that failed almost daily — slow speeds, surprise overage fees, and support lines that never reached anyone who could actually fix anything. Everyone we knew in Lava had the same complaints. The big providers weren’t coming to save a town of a few hundred people in a river canyon.
So we did it ourselves. We learned the engineering, bought real equipment, and put the first radios on the ridge — some of it carried up the hill by hand, one wheelbarrow load at a time. In October 2017 the first homes in Lava came online.
Everything about our network is shaped by this specific place — radios aimed through gaps in these specific hills, relay sites placed for the way canyon weather actually behaves, gear chosen to shrug off an Idaho winter. That’s why we can promise speeds instead of advertising “up to” numbers: we engineered the network for the homes it serves, and we don’t oversubscribe it.
When something does break, the person who climbs the tower is the same person who answers the phone. Help is minutes away, because we’re your neighbors — our families use this network too.

Fixed wireless is line-of-sight, and we’d rather tell you “let’s confirm with a free check” than sell you a connection that disappoints. A straight answer, whichever way it goes.
